Our Story

How it all started...

Lifehouse Newport News was born out of a passion and desire in John & Kristen Ware's heart to plant a life-giving, effective church that would bring life change through Christ to all people, and would make a difference in the 757.

Through the support of our sending church, Lifehouse Newport News Hagerstown, and partnership with ARC (Association of Related Churches), we launched on Sunday, September 17, 2017, at the Regal Kiln Creek movie theater with a launch team of 50 people and 418 in attendance.

Expanding the vision...

One of our core values is that we are FOR OUR CITY - and by that, we mean we believe:
First, The Church should be known by what it is for instead of what it’s against. Secondly, a church should strive to make an impact in the city it is located in.  Out of this, the For Our City foundation was established.

Where we are headed...

Although we are not able to meet together corporately every Sunday, the ministry reach and impact at Lifehouse Newport News hasn’t and won’t stop. We are continuing to love and serve people, help those in financial hardships, respond to personal and communal crises as needed, continue being For Our City, and move forward in our mission of helping all people experience life change through Christ by Following Jesus, Doing Life Together, Getting in the Game, and Leaving a Legacy.
